"Hotel de Yama was great. This place has a real mountain lodge feel to it. It is remote and very quiet but within a mile of fun activities. It was the perfect lay-over between the hustle and bustle of Kyoto and the hugeness of Tokyo. The rooms were nice. The restaurants were both great. The grounds were amazing, especially the garden. The staff was super helpful. And the onsen was next level - so relaxing. Would come back to this place in a heartbeat"

"Very spacious and homey. Room was clean and the onsen was great overlooking mt fuji. Cons, the check out time is too early, you must leave at 10 am which is worst when you come with kids"

"Cet hébergement compte quatre chambres à l'étage. La mienne était propre mais vieillotte (avec 2 lits simples + 1 lit plié contre le mur). Le confort est minimal, la salle de bain n'a aucun chauffage. L'établissement était fermé (non accessible pour les clients) entre 11h et 15h, et on est loin des lieux animés de Hakone. Le propriétaire donne volontiers des conseils. Globalement, je trouve que le prix est très élevé pour la prestation fournie."

"Disappointing. Booked as a treat. Not met by any staff on arrival. Instead staff wanted times for dinner and breakfast … insistent on both before we had even been taken to room. Taken to room we had not booked with a broken bed in it. Had to explain room we booked was Tatami/Japanese not western. Waited 30 minutes for staff to speak to owner before room changed. Dinner - was booked for 8.30pm in response to staff demand. 8pm staff demanded we go to dinner directly after onsen. Told us dinner...

"Hotel was clean and the staff were all very polite and helpful. The beds were a little uncomfortable, the AC didn’t work well and the room was hot but we were able to open the windows which was nice. Overall, the hotel was dated and guest rooms could use a renovation "

"The bottom floor with the sauna, onsen and showers was incredible. There was a staff only door which was a little concerning near the bedrooms (which do not have a lock) but my group did not have any issues during our stay. The check in was a little troubling, we get there at night."

"We loved our stay! The room was quiet and comfortable. We loved the public baths and breakfast (we didn't have dinner with our room). The staff was very welcoming. There's also a shuttle from the hotel down to the bus stop in Motohakone or it's an easy 15 min walk. "
