"We had a room with a private bath on the balcony. Our room was very clean and well appointed. My husband and I had separate single beds - not sure if I made a mistake with the booking or if that was standard. The location of the hotel is stunning. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. There was a shuttle bus from the local train station which we didn’t know until a couple of days before our trip. The included teppinyaki dinner was one of our favourite dinners in our whole time in Japan. No tattoos allowed in the public baths, but the private bath was perfect for me. "
"Clean and amazing views. They have drinks and snacks there for you which is great.
Check in was fine but had to call a few times to get through to verify my ID (there’s no staff on site, so virtual check in with codes to access the room).
Great location and would definitely recommend. You are paying a premium in April for the views but as a special treat it’s so worth it. We sat in the private onsen and sauna for hours! "
YuYu Hakone - Private Open Air Onsen Usage Guaranteed
10/10 Excellent
"Personal onsen experience was the best in my 14 day Japan trip. Outdoor onsen feels like soaking in nature. Very close to Hakone shrine and all most popular spots in area."
"Hotel de Yama was great. This place has a real mountain lodge feel to it. It is remote and very quiet but within a mile of fun activities. It was the perfect lay-over between the hustle and bustle of Kyoto and the hugeness of Tokyo. The rooms were nice. The restaurants were both great. The grounds were amazing, especially the garden. The staff was super helpful. And the onsen was next level - so relaxing. Would come back to this place in a heartbeat"
