"We stayed the night to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary as we'd had our wedding there. Staff were so lovely and helped to make it special for us. We were given vouchers for a complimentary drink and snack as well as a celebratory breakfast in the conservatory."

"Large, comfortable room with a modern en-suite. Very amenable and accommodating hosts with nice ideas such as putting on complimentary food in the bar during England World Cup games. We had a “simple” pie & chips from the menu and it was terrific with, as promised, real gravy. We didn’t have full English breakfast but the toast on the Continental option from a local artisan baker was fab. Lots of little touches that make the Royal Oak a little different from the ordinary."

"I was allocated a tiny room with no air conditioning. Shower also didn't work. In fairness, when i reported problems, staff quickly put it right. I paid £288 for 2 rooms which i feel were very substandard. However staff were excellent and food was good."

"My mother and I stayed in a room with two queen beds. Very clean, beds were so comfortable, we both had a tremendous night sleep. The air con was a little slow but worked all the same. The staff on both days we're helpful, very polite and kind. The breakfast was hot and fresh and staff were responsive to our needs as well as the needs of others with clearing plates, getting extra bread, to go cups etc. Only criticism i can make is the bar didn't take cash and we don't really use card. "The hotel was lovely and I was happy with my stay. I really enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi and thought it was very well-maintained. However, I woke up covered in bed bug bites. I was very surprised as the room seemed very clean but over the course of the next couple of days 40 or so bites appeared.
