"My wife and I was extremely happy with my stay at Hakone Airu. It was our first time in that part of the town and hotel. First off, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect; Away from busy town and off to a quieter part of the town. It was also very convenient as the train station is located only 10 minutes by walk. As for the rooms and food, the rooms were fantastic, spacious and the en-suite onsen was the highlight. It was convenient and we could take a bath anytime. As for the food, they have us a selection of what to choose from. The highlight was the wagyu beef for both the shabu shabu and stone grill. The taste was exceptional. I would highly recommend friends and family in the future to stay at this hotel."

"This is a shoe-free hotel. You leave your shoes in a locker at the entrance and walk around in socks for the entire stay. All was good until I had a simple request. I asked if an attendant could call a local clinic to find out if they could see me for an urgent eye issue. No matter how I explained my request, I couldn’t get anyone to call or explain why they wouldn’t. I’ve used Google Translate in other cities in Japan, but here it only caused confusion. I ended up wasting an hour and a half traveling to a clinic that couldn't see me that day. The buffets were good and had a lot of choices, but were chaotic."

"Overall, our experience was good. Our first night was wonderful- we were met with friendly staff and the dinner experience was wonderful. The food was good and each portion of the meal was explained and were presented in a beautiful manner. Although the second night’s dinner was not like the first night - we discussed it with the hotel management team and feel they are going to make every effort to ensure other guests will have a memorable experience throughout their stay. Disappointed that we couldn’t stay for breakfast the next day due to an early checkout to continue our itinerary."

"The staff here were so friendly and helpful. They really made you feel welcomed and helped you settle in. The property is beautiful, a classic traditional Japanese style ryokan and they provide slippers and robes as well. It was a very enjoyable stay for us. Even given the 15-20minute walk from the train station, you’re surrounded by beautiful nature and architecture, so it doesn’t feel very far at all. Our room had a private onsen which was fantastic, definitely a highlight! We recommend Yushintei and would absolutely come back."

"Beautiful traditional hotel at the edge of Hakone National Park. The public onsen was glorious- and we also had a private onsen attached to our room. There was a slight mix up with booking dinner in advance, where my messages via Expedia were answered initially but then not confirmed. But we then had the buffet dinner instead which worked really well for us. The staff were lovely and very helpful. I'd definitely go back!"
