"The tub/shower was disaster - the level of the tub is higher than the level of the floor - so getting out there is a big drop off. Also there was nothing to hang onto in getting or out of the tub/shower. and the tub was slippery. I only later discovered the bath mat which was in a shelf far from the tub/shower - not in plain sight. For an older person like myself, I had to be very careful i didn't fall and injure myself. The bed was great. The lighting system was a bit complicated to figure...

"It's a good property, clean room & modern. Like the location, 5 -10 min walking to Shek Mun MTR. We like & used the frequent shuttle buses taking guests to nearby train station and New Shatin Plaza. All staff (including the shuttle bus drivers) are very nice and provide good services. We'll stay in Alva Hotel again and recommend to friends."

"The Auberge Hotel is a very nice hotel with comfortable beds, fantastic views of the mountains, the bay and on a clear day you can see all the way to central city. I however found the front desk unhelpful and unprepared at times. From check in, room change to checkout. I am familiar with Discovery Bay but at points had questions about transportation and it was met with subpar information. I had questions about dining and there was no clear answer on I my simple question on breakfast times....

"The staff were amazing especially the check in staff. Sad to say this was the only 5 star thing about the hotel. The hotel lobby is clean and modern, but once you get to the rooms its like getting taken back in time. Rooms are very dated, and just not up to the usual shangri la standard. Fixings were loose, screws protruding from door chain. The price was cheap, but with the shangri la name you still expect decent rooms. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again, but will still stay in shangri...
