"The hotel and its amenities are pretty solid, but the customer service I received on the phone prior to my arrival was abhorrent. Also, the beach was completely unusable due seaweed, but that's no fault of the hotel, just bad timing."

"I want to start by saying that this review has nothing to do with the staff, every single person we encountered was amazing, kind, and attentive. A special thank you to the team at the Katok restaurant in the Akumal resort, especially Oliva, Obdulia, Francisca, the chef who came out to greet us, and the captain waiter. Their service truly stood out and made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply affected by the food. During my stay, I got food poisoning twice, and the last time was extremely severe. I experienced fever, vomiting, chills, and diarrhea. I am still recovering from it. It was honestly very difficult to travel back home in that condition. I had a fever while flying and could not keep any food down due to how upset my stomach was. This was very disappointing, especially because everything else, particularly the staff, was so wonderful. I hope the resort takes this feedback seriously and reviews their food safety standards so that future guests do not go through the same experience. "

"Lets put it this way. This have been our second time to Cancun so obviously we are comparing to our first experience. Our first time was in a hotel named secrets akumal. Unico is a good hotel but smaller compared to our first hotel. Not a big issue. The hotel is new and looks good. Everything is available and staff is nice. What myself and my wife didn’t like: 1-The food wasn’t as delicious as expected. Specially lunch!! 2- They have this program called Legendary where members have their own places in the hotel which is not a big deal. Just as an advice dont get fooled into the offers of listening to the one hour lecture for whatever promotions they will offer. It is not 1 hour!! Its more and they are very persistent when you keep saying it doesn’t fit you, incase that was the case. 3-Part of the beach is rocky but that isnt a big issue but just an FYI. "

"Everything was wonderful, but the elevators kept breaking down. I’ve been there three times and never experienced any breakdowns before. Also, my air conditioner was VERY loud! Maintenance came to fix it, but that only worked temporarily. I’ll still go back there, but I hope everything is fixed."
