"Overall I really enjoyed my stay. The heater didn’t seem to work in room although I didn’t really have an absolute need for it. Room was VERY clean! Even though older it was clean in every corner. Only room for improvement was in the desk people. While kind enough, they did not take a personal interest in my questioning the heat in the evening. Just said “yeah, I would just turn it to that symbol “. Which I was questioning the meaning of the symbols. The best response from them would have been, “we’ll send someone up to help you”. "

"This hotel was pleasantly surprising and very charming! I was hesitant when booking because I saw mixed reviews however I had the best time and the hotel grounds are beautiful!! The patio furniture and pool set up are very nice, the room was basic and on the smaller side, but very clean! We didn’t come to Big Sur, just to sit in the room so in truth it was perfect for us! When we were at the hotel, we spend most of the time at the pool or lounging in one of the many patio sitting spots. I would absolutely stay here again! With the price and what you get for it, I’d be stupid not to. 😊"

"Our stay was beautiful! The hotel is stunning, with a friendly and attentive staff, eager to make your stay a happy one. The buffet breakfast with omelette and waffle station was fabulous. The hotel is an historical building so the rooms and bathrooms maintain the original footprint and size, which prohibited any enlargement of the very small bathroom. But given all the other perks La Playa offers we survived the small space and would definitely return. "

"Excellent house in a wonderful location! Nestled behind gates at 17 mile drive at the end of beautiful culdesac. Prime location looking over treetops into Carmel Valley. Would definitely stay here again with the family!"
