"Room condition was good. It was the best thing I can say. Spacious and nice for family. Right next door to lellu bookstore. Next hotel was near the river and it felt very central. It was raining like mad in Portugal so it was really hard when we arrived and had to carry two very large luggages up the stairs till 3rd floor. "We loved this hotel. The staff was top notch and provided excellent service. We enjoyed the breakfast daily which had a nice variety of food with quality ingredients. The room was very spacious and I loved the shower. The spa on site was also lovely after a long day with lots of walking. The area of the hotel has loads of restaurants that are walkable and I liked that it was outside of the super touristy area of the waterfront. "

While there are significant sites along the riverfront, it is at a significantly lower elevation from the rest of the town (hence the funicular) and not convenient to local restaurants and other sites. Don't be misled by the photos, which make the rooms look drab. They are modern, with dramatic lighting that enlivens the space but provides good light. The bathroom was huge. "Beautiful room and property. Excellent staff. Amazing breakfast. The only issue is that the doors to the shower and the toilet are frosted glass that are not fully frosted and the toilet door is not sealed. Also, there is a corkage fee to have drinks in the room. It's not much but seems unreasonable to charge guests for a bucket of ice and wine glasses. Nice location on a pedestrian street. Secure property with 24/7 front desk staff."

The hotel was a little hard to find because it’s inside a very old building that is surrounded by other businesses and it has a very tiny sign on the door with the hotel name.
