"Oh, River Hotel, how do I hate you? Let me count the ways. It was very difficult to find the hotel. It's narrow and short squished between two buildings which are much bigger. The hotels directions are terrible. All I have to say is that it's right next to the Sofitel, and I would've found it immediately. Despite knowing the city well, I spent about an hour driving around looking for it.My car sat out front, engine running, in the valet area for up to 2 hours before *I* saw it and told them to park it. My first key didn't work so I had to traipse back downstairs to get a new one. After I entered my room and got myself organized I looked for the room service menu. I wanted a bite before I left for my event. No room service. Then I remembered the hotel had a lounge which served food. I went downstairs to the lounge, and what did I discover but a room with some comfy chairs a coffee machine and a refrigerator full of water. Period. After having complained, I will say that the rooms and bathrooms are quite clean, above average. So kudos to housekeeping! Also kudos to the young woman working the desk wearing a dark suit and pink glasses. She was tremendously helpful to me. Unfortunately, that car sitting out front ruined the staff score."

"Hotel has a beautiful lobby but rooms are very outdated. Elevators are specially slow, may take you over 5-7 minutes just to get down to first floor."

"Fantastic stay - nothing special about the hotel although nothing bad about it - what I lived was the location - very close to McCormick Place - I was in Chicago for a conference so that was good - and right I. Chinatown- so many great places to eat"

"Waited 10 minutes for someone to actually appear at front desk upon check in, and when they did arrive, only directed guests to kiosks to check in themselves. No welcome, no review of property or amenities, no ID check. Bed felt like it was 2 decades old at best, springs felt throughout and saggy. At check out, same thing, directed to kiosks. At no time did anyone from the staff offer a welcome or ask about my stay. Convenient location, but price not worth what is actually offered at the property."

"The hotel was immaculately kept. We visited the pool and found that fantastic as well. The only issue I had was parking. The site made it sound like parking was available for free, but it is not. I paid $40 per day to park nearby. There may have been some cheaper solutions for parking, but not convenient."

The property is clean and well maintained, so it feels luxurious, and it’s right downtown in the loop so you have easy access to anything you may want to experience in Chicago. I highly recommend the Hilton for any trip or staycation in Chicago."
