"The hosts were great but the rooms were like staying in a hostel. The heating for the room was only put on when we arrived so it was freezing everywhere. The towels were so hard. The curtains had been trimmed with scissors very badly and the window handle fell off when I tried to open it. The beds were comfortable though. "

"Adorable hotel, so convenient to Earl's Court tube station. Clean, friendly. Perfect stay, we would book again!"

"Excellent location. Good attentive staff. Great breakfast. But the room design is wanting. Black separate shower and toilet are dark. Water is coming out of the shower and the floor is moldy and swallen. So, the washroom door jams. Overall design is somewhat pretentious but with unnecessaryly reduced space and functionality. Would have been better with more conventional simpler approach. Overall recommended though."

"We stayed in room 922, while a lovely spacious quiet room, there were a few issues. Green flashing light above bed, which goes off all through the night. Asked reception 3 times to sort, eventually they covered this. The access door to the room, whenever opened it made a air sooking noise that we could hear - staff/guests opened this door for no reason. It would be good if a sign was on saying no access etc. We had to ask for the tea/coffee/milk to be replenished as it was not done so...

Room facilities were fine, you have to go into the corridor for coffee and there were no clothes hangers only coat hooks (did ask advised none). Ironing facilites are in the basement and Ironing board was broken which made things difficult. Main gripe is that the hotel is digitally very demanding, I had 8 messages of various detail including attachments before even getting to the property and a text message at 8am the...

"Amazing location with great amenities. Staff was extremely friendly throughout our stay and the bar/restaurant downstairs was a big plus for us. Room was spotless and had all of the necessary amenities for us. We will definitely be booking again in the future."

"The Rubens is a fantastic hotel. We only stayed one night, but will definitely stay there upon return to London. The location cannot be beat, only a block or two from Buckingham Palace. The staff absolutely could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They really were fantastic!! The room was comfortable. We had a view of the Royal Mews. Breakfast was amazing. I really cannot say enough nice things about the hotel. Highly recommend!"

The only couple of issues were that the shower was making a weird gurgly noise pretty much all night, making sleep difficult and I found there was a not pleasant drainage smell to the room, though subtle but was still aware."
