Facilities are bit old but very clean. All the staff are super friendly. Enjoyed the activities and tours. Restaurants are good but the waiting time was a bit longer than expected. If you are planning attending activities in between the meals, check the opening hours and save some extra time. Overall good experience. Be mindful with potential mosquitoes and bugs on the beach.

Most of the staff seemed blasé about offering assistance. The room looked dated with faded & chipped wood on the bed & dresser. The bathroom trash can was bent & broken. When I asked for a menu I was told to check the app on my phone. Not worth the money at all.

I enjoyed so much about Excellence Playa Mujeres. The grounds are very clean, the staff is AMAZING, the rooms were overall pretty good but somewhat dated and we really enjoyed the entertainment. Food was overall pretty good except for the French restaurant, which was rather disappointing. The buffet breakfast, although a little limited for someone who doesn’t eat pork, was always so pleasant because of the staff! It was also great to meet good people from all walks of life. I would definitely recommend and return to this resort. My only issue really is with the Excellence brand as a whole. We were supposed to stay at their Oyster Bay property for our birthdays, but because of Hurricane Melissa, we felt it was unsafe. We were given the run around even though they have a hurricane policy. We were never taken care of and still decided to rebook the trip with Excellence. Hopefully at some point they will make this right because we would love to try all of their properties.

I visit Mexico 4–6 times a year and rarely leave reviews, but this resort was disappointing enough that I feel other travelers should know. I understand the usual all-inclusive rhythm—eat, relax, drink, watch a show, repeat—but this place missed the mark completely. The resort was extremely crowded, and most of the staff seemed annoyed or overwhelmed any time we asked for something. For the price and quality this hotel advertises, the food was the biggest letdown. Not even the basics were good—not a decent burger, buffet, or simple snack. You’re better off spending a bit more and going to Atelier or a Hyatt. I trusted TikTok reviews and regretted it. Service issues were everywhere. Bellboys took so long we ended up carrying our own bags. Our toilet stopped working. The room phone barely worked, and when room service did answer, they rushed us off the call. Our room even lost power randomly, and no one checked on us or explained anything—we just sat and waited for it to turn back on. The app wasn’t helpful, and every restaurant we tried was a disappointment. I didn’t meet a single staff member who seemed friendly or welcoming. Even the spa, which is usually a highlight in Cancun, was rushed and underwhelming. The water journey felt half-hearted, like they just wanted to get it over with. The staff at this resort were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We loved the variety of restaurants, bars, and entertainment options. The rooms were also very spacious and clean.

The food is amazing, and the people are super warm and friendly. It’s such relaxed to stay here for 5 days. There are tons of activities here you can do, like water zomba, kayaking. I especially recommend the clinic tennis class!! Super great. The coach Alfonso is knowledgeable and passionate about teaching tennis. I do play tennis often but still learned a lot from him. Highly recommended! I definitely will come back!

Love the Excellence brand. Everything at the resort was very well done. Great beach, plenty of shade, nice beach area, nice pools, lots of space the lounge around. Lots of shade options.
