The Royal Sands Resort in Cancun boasts one of the cleanest, most beautiful beaches I’ve seen — soft, spotless sand and a stunning ocean view that make it perfect for relaxation. The room layout is ideal for families of four, offering a comfortable, well-maintained space with good separation between the main bedroom and living area. However, our room was next to a malfunctioning service elevator that constantly moved between floors, which became quite disruptive.
Dining options were limited — you’ll find something to eat, but the variety and themed experiences common at other all-inclusive resorts were lacking. The kids club staff were friendly, and my children had fun, though activities were basic and didn’t include visits to the aqua park or outdoor play areas, which was disappointing.
You’ll also need reservations to attend shows, an unnecessary inconvenience for a family resort. Additionally, the resort still uses physical cards for room keys and towels instead of modern wristbands or digital systems.
Finally, keep in mind that this is a timeshare property, so there’s some sales pressure and fewer spontaneous activities than you’d find at a traditional vacation resort.
Overall, the beach and cleanliness are truly exceptional, but dining, entertainment, and modernization could be improved.
