We visited COZUMEL 2 years ago and was looking forward to staying at Secrets Aura. We were disappointed that food and service has gone down in quality. Restaurants did not have a lot of items tochoose from and guests were relegated to buffet but that can get old. Simple things like amenities and cleaning seem to be challenging to request.

We had a pool and ocean view from our patio on the second floor. View was beautiful room was clean, we had everything we needed and more! The staff is very friendly and accommodating Overall resort was great we would definitely go back!

This place has fallen dramatically in quality, and it’s the last time we’ll stay there—after half a dozen stays at Secrets and Dreams in Cozumel. We had the most expensive room in the resort (top floor suite with plunge pool), and things didn’t work, they forgot to clean the room, maintenance requests took three calls, etc. After complaining, they assigned a “guest relations” guy to try to smooth things over. We had four rooms, and one of the kids’ rooms had water leaking from the ceiling with chunks of paint. Avoid this place!!

DO NOT PAY FOR PREFERRED in 16 nights not a single employee checked for any of the amenities that we paid for everyone uses those areas including next door at Dreams. We upgraded to a full ocean view room you could not see the ocean unless you leaned over the balcony. Items in the room were broken had to fight to be moved to a functioning room that we had paid thousands extra for. The food is horrible no flavor and always over cooked. They fed my husband part of a cleaning towel and management shrugged it off like it was no big deal and then he was sick for 2 days. Men are required to be in sleeves and slacks when dining outside and it’s 90. This hotel is pretending to be 5 stars but is a 2. They are in the middle of a remodel, I stayed in 3 different buildings and every one of them I was woken by construction. They plan to shut it down in 6 months for 2 years and do a massive overhaul. I did not meet a single friendly employee who wanted to be there. The beach is beautiful but has large sharp reef just a few feet out which requires shoes. The sand is great in some areas but rocky in others cigarette butts everywhere, and I stepped on a large nail on beach told mgr they did nothing but offer to throw it away. If you are able to find one available all Loungers are ripped or broken. I had a 6ft palm leaf fall directly next to me and watched multiple coconuts fall around people.I could go on but not enough room.

We had a great view of the ocean from our room and our maid keep it clean. Common areas were very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The resort just needs up dated, it is showing its age. There is definitely a shortage of beach and pool loungers. The food was good but most of the restaurants are only open a few days of the week. You can use the restaurants at the Dreams but expect along wait there. We have stayed at the hotel in the past and it has lost some of its appeal.

We really didn’t have a great ocean view. Wall of next room blocked it on left, and were facing the 3-storey building along the pool on the right. Nevertheless, we could see the ocean from 3rd floor.

The resort is very old, and in dire need of an update. We traveled as a group of six, in three different rooms, and all of our rooms were very dirty. Food options are very limited. Unless you are getting up at 6AM, don’t expect to get a chair on the beach as all are taken. We had people in our group get up by 7am each day; and struggle to find chairs. We were told that this resort would be closed within the next two years for a total renovation. I wouldn’t recommend traveling here until that is done.

Our AC barely worked, even after staff coming to fix it. Housekeeping was great, food was ok, staff was friendly for the most part. But it is lacking a good area to sit in a bar setting... the main "night time" bar didn't open until 9pm so if you eat an early supper, you have a couple hours with nothing to do, no where to go other than the tanning chairs, Sky Bar (which fills up fast - limited seating) or your room. Staff are pushy for trying to get you to buy their "preferred" packages. Heard from a few people they have let the place go but it was still in decent shape.

Don’t waste your money staying here. Property has an old feel to it with a lot of upgrading needed. The room had to be one of the worst on the property. Only provided 1 chair in the room, graffiti on door lock, had to unplug fridge to plug in coffee maker to make coffee in room, housekeeping didn’t wipe down surfaces prior to us checking into room. Food wasn’t good at restaurants-cold, bland and they ran out of items. And the high pressure to sit through a “membership” sale presentation at the outset was off putting. Was supposed to be 90 minutes and lasted 3 hours. Upgrade promises for Preferred access made a month before arrival were not honored and requested Romance Package of flowers, sparkling wine and fruit (also prearranged) at check in was not done. Worst resort for our vacation that we’ve ever had. Hope this review saves someone else from massive disappointment for how much this place costs.

The resort is lovely. The staff are amazing. We had to change rooms our second night because the one we booked was not available. They were good about it.

The staff was great! Elizabeth in the Oceana was a nice and helpful! I enjoyed having her as our waitress! Rooms were mildewy and all our clothes smelled musty when we got home. The resorts needs a ton of updates and refreshed! The spa was great!

Except for the beautiful water at the beach, almost everything else about our stay was disappointing. The overall presentation of the property was far from ideal. Our room had several issues, including broken locks and lights, stained bed sheets, and a bathroom that smelled like sewage. The room quality overall was very poor. The food and restaurant options were also disappointing in both quality and variety. On top of that, there was construction taking place right next to the Market restaurant and the spa area, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the amenities. Overall, we are not happy with our experience and feel that it was a waste of money.

The staff was very friendly. The only complaints I have was getting the room cleaned and getting them to leave towels in our room. The air wasn’t the greatest and the mini fridge wasn’t very cold. But overall the food was wonderful, the staff was very helpful! Hospitality 10/10

The room was very clean. The staff were all amazing. Secrets Aura does need renovations but it was very comfortable and relaxing week. We will go back!

Room was great. Restaurants were hit and miss. We are Hyatt members and the sales staff refused to leave us alone. One lady went as far to say my partner didnt "look" terminally ill. We came to relax and rest after multiple drs visits. We were treated better at Dreams Estrella in Mazatlan. Talk about a beautiful resort!
