"Hotel is very clean and pretty.
Location is really good 10 min walk into the town area.
Beds comfortable and the pillows are good.
Shower has plenty of pressure and hot water.
The barriers around the lagoon do a good job of keeping out the seaweed.
Easy access to paddle boards and kayaks. Snorkelling gear is charged at $6 for 20 mins.
Pools are good size with plenty of sun beds. If you want a breeze sit on the beach as you can’t feel a breeze around the pool.
Lobby is open to outdoors so it’s warm and not somewhere to cool down and relax on a hot day.
Appears to be a shortage of staff in some places.
One man has been doing the pool bar and upper level bar which isn’t good. To get served in the pool you have to get out of the pool to go to the bar.
No barman In desire at times so had to fetch someone to serve if we went in.
Preferred area restaurants are closed for breakfast while we were there I didn’t check k the other meals.
Firstly the restaurants are all in need of good air conditioning, especially the breakfast buffet. It is so hot in there.
Never had this issue in a hotel of this class before. They are so hot and humid inside.
USA 4th July night cake was stale and waiters were few and far between.food wasn’t good and was over or u cooked.
The Wednesday it was buffet only no restaurants. We didn’t go and went out to eat after the July 4 buffet.
Food in buffet I would say 2/5 at best. Lacks flavour, under or over cooked and some of it is dry."
"Nice resort. Small. Only four restaurants so if you are there for many nights you may get bored with the cuisine. Good was good except for the steak house.
After a good rain the rooms smell musty and like sewer. We stayed in the closest building to the pool. Easy walk to the pool and beach. The beach was nice. We went during seaweed season so there was a lot of seaweed daily on the beach. The staff worked night and day to try to clear it.
The staff was exceptional. Kind, friendly and helpful.
The shows at night were fantastic too. Actual performances, dancing singing acrobatics … not just lip synch.
The drinks were good. Not serving any alcohol until 10 am so no mimosas with breakfast.
Overall, I would recommend. I think most places in Mexico have sort of a musty smell. Not nearly as bad as our last trip to Mexico at a Princess resort."
"We had an amazing time during our stay, like I read in past reviews the bathroom were super outdated but everything else was wonderful.
The gym is super modern and the Zumba and Spinning class were great.
The entertainment group were super nice, they all work very hard to keep the guests happy, Estrella and Gabriel were super.
We’ll definitely be back."
"Had a wonderful experience. Only thing I had issues with was how difficult it was to get a dinner reservation at the restaurants on property. Showing up on day one and everything was booked for the most part. Drinks at the pool weren’t bad . The buffets were good . The staff were very nice and helpful . I would definitely come back"
"Great stay for the money. It’s on the harbor side but there’s public beach access within walking distance. The hotel provides free bikes if walking isn’t your thing. Rooms are clean and have a typical hotel layout. The patio is equipped with a hammock and a beach lounger. There’s a small pool to cool off in. There’s a small bridge across the edge of the lagoon that forms a pool inside the property with fish. The restaurant is everything waffles (even a burger waffle). Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! Food has chef vibes! I recommend renting a golf cart for shopping and access to more restaurants. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Coconut bar is about 1/4 mile away. Cheers!"
"Has the time of our life on this beautiful trip. We traveled with our four-year-old son, and he loved every single pool as well as everything they have to offer you everybody on staff is absolutely super helpful super nice. If you get the chance to go….go"
Barceló Maya Riviera - Adults Only - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"It is not very common to find the perfect hotel; I give Riviera Maya a 99%. We had the privilege of not only enjoying the adult only hotel where we stayed at but all of the other five hotels at Riviera Maya. Food was excellent, amazingly clean; but what made the experience unique was the staff. Every single staff member was friendly, helpful, and doing it all with great attitude. From the ladies that cleaned our room, to the man who helped with the TV, the women who resetted the safe for us, the restaurant workers, the ladies who helped with the restaurant reservations, the ladies who booked the tours, those that worked at the gift shops, those at the reception; so many...all with one goal: make our stay the best enjoyable experience. Visiting during the World Cup, seeing the celebration as Mexico won their game made it special. And yes, the daily one hour concerts at night at the Riviera adults only sealed each night with great music. In my specific case, as I am on a special diet, even the chefs did their best to accommodate my restrictions and I enjoyed some delicious food. I would definitely recommend the Barcelo hotels! Thank you for a wonderful six days!!"
