"Great location for carless hotel guests. We were able to Uber, walk, and use the trolley to explore the city. Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries near by. Oracle park is a short distance and accessible by foot. Coffee is provided every morning in the lobby along with a continental breakfast. Neighborhood is safe during the day, but I'd be careful at night. All in all a great stay and I would come back again next time I'm in town."
"Very close to Fisherman’s Wharf and Lombard street as well as the cable cars. Hotel was very clean. Furniture in rooms is worn and bath tub paint is chipping. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Price is very good for the location."
"This is a huge, busy hotel. Our room was large, clean and properly equipped, if unexciting. Plastic and paper cups were a cheap touch but the towels were wonderful. There was no view. Our bar experience was disappointing, with only one working bartender and no table service for a rather large crowd. The breakfast was impressive with fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, pancakes and pastries. Even at 7 am it was crowded, although there was plenty of seating, by the time we left, all the tables looked to be taken. Great location for walking the Fisherman's Wharf area and walking distance to our cruise dock."
"This is the best hotel in SF. CLASSIC - thick solid walls, staircases, casement windows yet all the modern conveniences - wifi, smart tv, mini-fridge, etc. Family-owned since 1920’s and you can tell it’s lovingly-maintained. Friendly, efficient staff and enough of them! “Old-fashioned” service like bellpersons to fetch bags. Prime location 600 ft from Union Square and 250 feet from theatres. Easy valet parking and access to O’Farrell St without walking around the block. (I recommend Cafe Mason, around the corner, for breakfast or lunch). And it has an outdoor swimming pool!! Booking through Expedia, we not only got a much lower price, we got to-go breakfast boxes AND 20% off parking. The Handlery is my go-to spot for fun in SF!"
