"A Spectacular Stay at Barceló Bávaro Palace — Made Unforgettable by Brandol Ortega This is our ninth trip to the Dominican Republic, and we’ve stayed at quite a few resorts over the years — some better than others — but we always find ourselves coming back to this beautiful country. Our first visit to Barceló was 13–14 years ago, and it holds a special place in our hearts for good reason. This trip, we came with family and friends, and we can honestly say everything has been wonderful. The resort delivers on every front — the atmosphere, the amenities, the food — it’s the kind of place that makes you never want to leave. But the person who truly elevated our stay to something extraordinary is Brandol Ortega. Without question, the best host we have ever had — not just at Barceló, but across all nine of our Dominican Republic trips combined. His warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care for our group made us feel like VIPs from the moment we arrived. He is the kind of hospitality professional who doesn’t just do his job — he makes memories. If you’re planning a stay at Barceló Bávaro Palace, we hope you’re lucky enough to have Brandol as your host. He alone is worth coming back for. Ten out of ten. See you again soon, Barceló! 🌴"

Melia Caribe Beach Resort - All Inclusive

"The property was nice overall. Rooms were thoroughly clean & restocked each day. Shuttle Drivers were amazing. Birthday Cake & Champagne was much appreciated. We had the following issues: 1. We did not receive coupon books upon check in for our two rooms as promised, because they were out. We received them on our last night, so there was no time to use them. 2. Upon check in, there were no wash clothes in one of our bathroom to wash our faces & take showers. I had to request them three times, once via our concierge on WhatsApp, once in person at the front desk & again via room phone once we return to our room that evening. They said the “Do Not Disturb” sign must have been on the door, but it was not. Wash clothes were finally delivered at approximately 10:45 pm. 3. We were told our concierge had to make our reservation for the Riviera Restaurant, which he did. However, we had no idea reservations had to be made for all the other restaurants. We found the Kiosk to make reservations after being turned away from one."

"This resort was amazing! We had a suite with it's own private pool area which we very much utilized. The property also many public pools to choose from, with a few of them having swim up bars. Beautiful white sand beach that you can just walk out to, with beach chairs, and Cabanas. Only drawback about the beach though is that the water water had lots of sargassum seaweed, which they were doing their best to clean up. The rooms were kept clean, and the restaurants had lots of variety, however we felt that there could have been more Domican food represented. The staff was very nice, and helpful whenever possible. There is nothing that would not make us not want to book the resort again. We were very happy with our 10 day stay!!"

"Here's a cleaned-up version: This place is awesome — great amenities, and the water park was a lot of fun. One thing I was worried about going in was the food, since I'd heard mixed things about other resorts. But this place did not disappoint; the buffet was great, and so were the other restaurants. The kids club was okay. My daughter is 10, and she said there weren't enough kids or activities, though I'm not sure if that's always the case. One issue they clearly need to address is the playroom where kids and teens hang out — the A/C wasn't working, and none of the equipment worked either, including the video games. The beach was nice, but there was a lot of sargassum, even with their prevention and cleanup efforts. That said, I'd definitely check out other beaches nearby — they were beautiful. Definitely do excursions. We booked ours through Expedia, but I heard people also book directly with vendors on-site. The resort offers them too, but at about three times the price for the same experience. The most annoying part of the trip was that everyone is trying to sell you something every few minutes. They're not rude about it, but it's like a whole army of vendors, and it gets pretty pushy.."
