"Spacious rooms. Very clean. Breakfast basic choices but nicely cooked and presented. Bar area modern since recent upgrade with good service and OK prices. Reserved parking space at time of booking hotel, due to reduced mobility, occupied by another car which could not be identified by hotel and even with note attached remained there for next 24hrs followed by a different car doing same!"

"Room not what we were expecting as it wasn’t a cabin but a very damp smelling old and worn lodge in a row of other lodges which were all connected together. However after paying an upgrade on our booking we were allocated a large cabin near the lake"

"Property full of character staff are excellent very helpful and polite we had a comfort room and it was more than adequate for our needs with a large bathroom. Breakfast was super a massive range and choice from full English to toast and jam, cereals or continental a great stay and we will return"

"The Royal is a very quirky old building so you have to expect a certain amount of oddness about the place. It is annoying cash only, this always bugs me as I like the choice. We didn’t make it into the pool area as it was full to capacity(very small pool are). If the girl who runs the pool deck is needed skewered they simply lock it up. The hotel seemed under staffed but most of them were helpful, Brittania hotels( the worst in the country 10 yrs running) are not investing any substantial...

"Lovely hotel, staff were great, very cheerful and friendly, great check-in. The room was clean, lovely comfortable bed, great nights sleep. We had fantastic stay and enjoyed visiting York."

"The property is in a great location but it is need of repair and maintenance, our room was spacious but the Tv was not on a wall facing the bed it was on a side wall so you would of had a crick in your neck to even look at it really strange. The carpets going up the breakfast room were filthy on the 5th floor, The bar was lovely to have a drink in we sat and had two and then a rat ran from the toilet door to the back of the seating area which did some what put me off, Such a shame the hotel was...

"The hotel was clean and well maintained with bar on which was nice and restaurant. Its position in Harrogate is perfect for all amenities and across Rd the jazz bar and Betty's"

"Booked it through Expedia that said parking available. When arrived they said they had limited spaces and should have pre-booked a space. That option wasn't available. I ended up parking half a mile away and paying a total.of £75 for it! I could have used that for a better hotel width parking spaces."

"Ok, so we upgraded the room which included the lounge - what’s to complain about, absolutely nothing, the lounge was fab, the room itself overall was ok and the breakfast was great too. But…the lifts, bent and battered doors, the middle lift shaking whilst going up and down and…sort the pillows out, this isn’t the 1st time, they flatten to nothing. We asked for harder pillows, on the 3rd ask late at night, we were given just 1. Feedback has been given on the 3 occasions we have stayed here."
