Blue Diamond was great when I first arrived, but unfortunately, the experience declined as my stay went on. I paid for four nights but only ended up staying three, as I chose to move to another all-inclusive resort for a day.
Service was a consistent issue. The bellboys often kept guests waiting under the hot sun for over 10 minutes, and overall responsiveness was slow. For example, it took about 1 hour and 45 minutes for maintenance to come and fill the cold tub outside my room, which was quite frustrating.
During breakfast, I noticed what felt like preferential treatment. I was one of the first to arrive but waited a long time and was only offered bread. Shortly after, a Caucasian couple arrived and were attended to immediately and offered more options. While I can’t say for certain, the difference in treatment was noticeable.
Another issue was payment preference. There seemed to be a strong push for cash payments in USD. When I mentioned I preferred to use my card, the attitude of staff noticeably changed. As someone traveling from Canada, I didn’t have USD on hand, so this created an uncomfortable experience.
Overall, while the property itself is beautiful, the service inconsistency makes it hard to fully recommend for an extended stay. It might be better suited for a short stay—one or two nights—rather than a longer visit, as the quality of experience seemed to decline over time.
