We loved all the animals that live on the resort and roam freely around (cats, coatis, agoutis, flamingos, raccoons, howler monkeys, iguanas, peacocks, turtles). Staff were all very friendly. Food was typical resort food, so-so. The Mediterranean Restaurant had the best à la carte food. The sargassum situation changed daily, some days it was nonexistent, and then the next day there was tons. Staff did their best to keep the beaches clear. Luckily, the pool is nice and big for those days when ocean swimming is a no go. We enjoyed the theater shows and activities like beach volleyball, cornhole, pingpong, and foosball. We also loved that the resort was only about a ten min cab ride to the various XCaret parks. We didn’t try the spa or the gym, but they have both. There are nice paths through the jungle area with nice water features here and there. It was a bit disappointing that the no smoking policy was not enforced very strictly.

This was my first time staying at the Iberostar Waves Tucan. The property grounds were very well kept, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was fantastic! I really enjoyed the entertainment each evening, and the entertainers and staff were very friendly and present throughout the day. Lots of activities to choose from every day, or you can just relax by the pool or ocean.

Property was acceptable, staff average my room was new redecorated and was cute. Unfortunately after my attempts to reach out to the hotel with no response , I requested a room on the main floor due to a disability I finally contacted Expedia customer service who were wonderful and I got my 1st floor room. I must say the concierge service at the hotel were good. I stayed at this property 2 years ago (because my sister-in who s in Candda has a friend who is some kind of travel agent and gets a “discount “ or cheaper prices?? I would not have stayed there but wanted to connect with my other brother-in law and sister in law who go with the group. I stated last time I would not go back, but my bad, wanted to vacation with them again, so I went thru Expedia’s- prices were excellent, a package with flight-transportation and accommodations-perfect / I am a single traveler and usually pay twice as much as couples. Anyway back to hotel, overall OK, but the food was 3rd rate, only 2 of the specialty restaurants were good - the Italian and the Japanese had great food. All the buffets’s were subpar, bars lacking premium alcohol and service was slow. This review is not relevant since they are closing for renovations in May. I hope they up their game. I have used RIU properties in Mexico and they are leaps and bounds above Iberostar. Which is now selling memberships in their next vacation endeavor. But if you want an overpriced poor vacation book Iberostar Tuscan. Only my opinion

resort was beautiful, room was kept clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was great, Beach and pools were beautiful. Beaches had lots of cigaret buts in the sand and found other debris (broken glass/plastic) which was a big concern since we had little children. Other than that it was wonderful.

Rooms need and an urgent update. Stained lamp covers and barhroom Mirror. Terrible smell in the bathroom that was not fixed despiste our insistence.AC not working properly. Restaurants and food very good.

Great stay great property beach front location , safe on the beach and at night inside a gated community. The staff was attentive and polite and I would and will return to the property . Rooms are big not modern but Spanish colonial style and the patio is nice and roomy . Def hit the Italian restaurant make all your resv at once

This stay was disappointing mainly due to food poisoning experienced by 2 members of our party. Hotel claimed no one else had it and unless a Dr said it was food poisoning they would take no responsibility but we spoke to many other guests that also had someone in their party also fall ill. Animals at hotel are the best part and the hotel is very clean.

Why people rank it 5 stars? The rooms are very outdated! You have only 1 outlet in the room and even that is by the TV. You unplug the Lamp and you use the charger. Absolutely no charges by the bed. The room is pretty small and the bathroom is super small. We traveled with 2 small children and it was very difficult to take a shower and use the bathroom or sink all the same time. If someone is at the sink - don’t open the door you’ll hit the person. If someone is using the toilet don’t open the door you’ll literally slam the door in their face. The shower is super small and claustrophobic, the lights are very small, yellow and just not enough. There is no shelf or space to place any of your shampoos or anything. The toilet clogged twice. There is no service by the pool or the beach area. No one will bring you any drinks, you have to go wait in line and get your drink. The entertainment could be better. All the entertainment ends at 10.30. For Xmas Eve entertainment the organizers were selling bottles of alcohol which would allow you to sit at the table. The bottle prices started at $120 US dollars and if you didn’t buy one you were meant to sit on the sides of the theater area. Once the show started more than 30 tables were empty but the organizers still didn’t allow anyone to sit and if someone attempted to do so they would be asked to move out of the area to the side.

Had to get the AC adjusted after the first night. Worked fine after that. Did not spend time at the pools - Just used the beach. Swimming in the ocean was great. Meals at buffet were good. Great afternoon snorkeling tour with the on-site company. Some good bird watching down by lovers beach and along the street outside the resort. Best birding if you can arrange it is at the golf course. Hotel staff were helpful and pleasant throughout the stay. We really enjoyed the evening violinist. Beds were comfortable and room was kept clean.
